So here we can discuss the movie =]

This is probably a stupid question, but why basterds with an E?
At first I thought I had been spelling it wrong my whole life, i suppose it's just another way?

I also thought Fredrick Zoller sounded really familiar, and I attempted to look him up and he didn't exist...?

With the E...At first I just thought it was so it was easier to convince censorship to advertise the movie on billboards and stuff. Even so, here its called "Inglorious" on the TV before 10 pm or whatever, they just replaced the "Basterds" with bullet holes.

The "Basterds" is shown after 10, but the voiceover dude still just calls it "Inglorious"

I then found out about an 1978 movie of the same name, spelt correctly, which was apparently the premise for Tarantino's film.
[url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076584/:3jsb1mjs]http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076584/[/url:3jsb1mjs]

So maybe he spelt to respect the director or make people aware of this older movie? I've also heard Tarantino gave this italian director a cameo, but the scene didn't make the final cut (it could easily have done though, just without him being credited).

Me either. Think I read it on another forum.

Just to correct, after reading imdb he was credited but as himself? Kinda odd.

Also, the Hugo Stiglitz character is named after a Mexican actor who was apparently a badass, haha.

PS Am I a complete idiot for not realising Samuel L Jackson narrated it?

Here's a link to download the entire screenplay. They cut a bunch of stuff out of the movie. Two .pdf files.

I remember reading ages ago they spelt it with the e's to make it more German-like.

I wonder why there were less cameos than the usual?

I just had lameness running through my head when he was on screen. Everytime he said bastards I just thought of Fat Bastard scalping Nazis. Glad he didn't over do it, could've been way worse than it was.

that scene with the bear jew coming through the tunnel, and the rest, pre and post, was so great. probably the best scene in the movie imo. i had a hard time following everything else.

Introducing their kid to Tarantino young. Guess it had minimal blood but that kid would've been bored shitless.

I wanna see it again too, just gonna wait a couple weeks so it isn't that sad as seeing it within a week/2 weeks of seeing it the first time.

Yeah, Mйlanie Laurent. Kinda sucks she wasn't credited higher. Sure Aldo is an important character and it's Brad Pitt so he's going to be credited pretty high up but she was a major character and had a major storyline going on and didn't really get the credit she deserved for it.

Had a look at her other movies on IMDB, haven't watched a lot of French movies, don't think I've seen her in anything else.

Wonder what the next Tarantino movie will be.

There's going to be a sequel to Inglourious Basterds, but as a novel. TOTALLY stoked for that. I have always thought QT would also make an excellent novelist.

I thought it was entertaining. Brad Pitt's accent was horribly overdone. Movie was not remotely historical but entertaining nonetheless.

I didn't know you were a tarantino fan.
I always thought his ridiculous amounts of dialog would work nicely in a graphic novel.

come on man it's tarantino. historical inaccuracies and exaggerated accents are just part of the method. besides, this movie is based on another movie of the same name.

I love Tarantino's dialogue, particularly the Jack Rabbit Slim's scene in Pulp Fiction, and the whole part about the foot massage.

I've only seen this, and liked it.

I tried to watch Pulp Fiction and I just couldn't, I got really bored, especially the diner scene when Travolta and Uma Thurman where talking

I've liked everything, except Jackie Brown.
Even stuff he's wrote, produced, etc.
Death Proof, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, 4 Rooms, Natural Born Killers, Dusk 'til Dawn.

He is the development for remaking 'Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill.

Natural Born Killers was stolen and insanely revised by Oliver Stone, who directed it. It is not a true Tarantino.

Natural Born Killers was an oliver stone movie, and it kind of sucked dick. It was pretty long and really boring, I've watched it twice and both times it put me to sleep.
I haven't seen Jackie Brown (or 4 rooms) but I like the rest of his movies.
Also Sukiyaki Western Django. Fucking stupid movie but stupid good.

That makes perfect sense but I think you're confused.

He would write the dialog (which would pretty much dictate the art, because you would write it in script form) then they (Quentin and the artists) would go through it and make a storyboard.
He would be in control of the art, the artists would just draw what he wanted them to.
If he ever did do a graphic novel, he would probably have an art studio do the art for him. Like he'd commission them.

It's not like he just writes up little word bubbles and sends them off to the artist and has pictures drawn around the bubbles.

But that's irrelevant. The only reason I'd like for him to do a graphic novel is because I'm too lazy to read a book. Especially one he wrote. It would be so fucking wordy.

I've liked everything except for Jackie Brown. I tried watching that a while ago and never got into it. Would try it again but I remember being pretty damn bored.

I also think that if my parents didn't make me watch From Dusk Til Dawn when I was a kid and I watched it now I probably wouldn't like it.

I really don't want him to remake Faster Pussycat! That movie is awesome, leave it be. I can see why he wants to and who knows it could be good, but I wish he just left it alone.

Regardless of who does the artwork, if I'm reading something, I like my mind to go wild. I don't like pictures to decide for it. This might be why I'm not a huge movie person. There's not as much room for imagination when you're just given the images.

And lolz at books being too "wordy" for you.

Wonder what the next Tarantino movie will be.

I read somewhere that he's filming 'Machete' right now (remember that fake movie trailer at the beginning of 'Planet Terror'?).
I also read that Lindsay Lohan was going to be in it.

You know what I meant! Sometimes authors get carried away and end up going way off topic or taking too long to describe something. When they do this the book becomes overly wordy and REALLY boring.
Example: The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. A good 3rd of the text in the book is a reflection of the character on the architecture of houses. I want to read the book and find out what the mystery of the the history of the mayfair witches is, and what they've got to do with Lasher, and whether or not Rowan and Michael are gonna hurry up and fuck and make a baby (which they also spend a good long portion of the book fretting about leading to more unnecessary wordy-ness.)
Instead you have little bits of that interrupted by pages and pages of architecture. Fucking architecture.
She does that in a few of her other books.

Anne Rice's sister wrote a decently sized novel and almost none of it was overly wordy, sometimes she would get a little off topic but not nearly as bad as Anne Rice did. I really liked it and wished she'd written more books.

Machete has been in production ever since Planet Terror came out. :< I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

I prefer reading detailed descriptions rather than looking at the visions someone else sees from his words.

Natural Born Killers was stolen and insanely revised by Oliver Stone, who directed it. It is not a true Tarantino.

Obviously for someone who claims to be so smart and tries so hard to be different, you skipped past the part that I mentioned the words '[i:q8okw3kk]wrote, produced, etc[/i:q8okw3kk]'.
I know that Natural Born Killers is not a "true" Tarantino movie.

I don't understand you. You are so hard to please. And I can't imagine what you would be like in person.
