Well, Nirvana ripped off Flipper...its a circle. Everyone is influenced by someone in a musical sense whether in riffs, beat, or lyrics. Just think how many bands has the Beatles inspired? How many people picked up a guitar after hearing Led Zepplin or Black Sabbath (or in my case Black Flag)? Music is a recyclable substance it just depends on the delivery and how it is made fresh, that makes all the difference.

EDIT: Also Nirvana ripped off Killing Joke's song Eighties. Here is the video for your pleasure.

Other than the exclamation point, I don't know why puctuation is so underused. It's a good thing to have...

Obviously you do not have reading comprehension. I never said she did not rip off that riff. I was questioning why it was such a big deal. Its inevitable to not be influenced by other musical acts in one way or another. Plus, I can't defend her as a person...I have only met her once. I am not her mother and Im sure if she gave a shit about it...she could defend herself.

are you one of [i:ruieke3z]those[/i:ruieke3z] nirvana fans? courtney love [b:ruieke3z]and brody[/b:ruieke3z] killed kurt, so brody could steal riffs from a nirvana song 10-years-later, it's pretty obvious. also, people tend to defend the things/people they like, it's not uncommon. it doesn't necessarily mean we're followers, we're just not random d-bags appearing on bands message boards to say nothing but negative things about them. ;)

Some people don't get it. Anyways...Gallow Is God is a good song regardless.

I can find some similarities with Nirvana and Gallow Is God, Kurt would maybe write song like that, it's about lyrics, that reminds me of Nirvana in In Utero era, yes. But I think Nirvana would make different music to that song and that Distillers did it better. But I can imagine Kurt playing it.

And well, Andy Wallace, who worked on Nevermind, worked on Coral Fang so maybe that has someting little to do with sound too.

"The Gallow Is God" really reminds me of a lot of the Nirvana/Fecal Matter demos because it's slow, slightly morbid, slightly torturous yet awesome. I can see why people think it sounds like Nirvana.

people hear what they want to hear. just because gallow is god sounds grungy doesn't make it sound like nirvana.

also.... hellooooo there are more grunge bands out there than nirvana.

Exactly. No matter what there are always going to be songs which slightly sound or have the same feel as other songs.
