4 Dead, Drummer Critical After S.C. Plane Crash
Coroner Releases Names Of Deceased Passengers
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) ― Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, authorities said Saturday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane headed for Van Nuys, Calif., went off a runway, through a fence and crashed on a nearby road, officials said.

Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said.

The Lexington County coroner said Saturday that pilot Sarah Lemmon of Anaheim Hills and co-pilot James Bland of Carlsbad died. Also killed were passengers Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles.

At the crash site Saturday, the air was still heavy with the odor of jet fuel. A trail of black soot led off a runway, across a five-lane road next to the airport and up an embankment. The nose of the aircraft was gone and the roof was missing from two-thirds of the charred plane.

Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night.

"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said.

The show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew 10,000 people into the streets of Five Points, the neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Coble said.

Neither Ferrell nor DeGraw were in the plane, their representatives told AP on Saturday.

One concertgoer said TRVSDJ-AM's performance was unique and different.

"It was literally one of the best shows I've ever scene," said Brett Flashnick, a freelance photographer who works for The Associated Press and attended the concert for a local newspaper.

Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182, whose biggest album was 1999's CD "Enema of the State," which sold more than five million copies in the United States alone.

After Blink-182 disbanded in 2005, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) - pronounced "plus forty-four." He also starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom he was married at the time. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and life. Their later split, reconcilation and subsqequent break-up made them tabloid favorites.

Goldstein is a popular DJ for hire who at one time was engaged to Nicole Richie.

Barker and Goldstein performed as part of the house band at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month.

I was reading this on another forums yesterday and someone from hat city posted saying the local news had announced he wasn't expected to make it. Does anyone know what happened?

Those guys are suffering from major burns but their doctor said they'll recover. Travis has torso burns and DJ AM had torso and facial burns.


They got on the plane because Travis' assistant Chris' wife was in labour and Travis was taking him to be with his wife. Unfortunately, Chris was one of the people who died in the crash.

Horrible what happened. I've actually followed Travis's music since I was 14 so thats been about 9 years now.
Ever since he was in the Aquabats. I've met him and Chris Baker often. It's heart wrenching what happened.
And yeah they did update the news, Chris wasn't expecting a baby. They were on the plane after playing a free show in
South Carolina.
They did say they are recovering well. My thoughts are with all that were involved.

On cnn.com they stated his ex-wife Shanna Moakler is down there with him now. And she stated that she doesn't want the
children to know until they know the actual final result. He's still in critical/stable condition

Travis Barker and Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein managed to escape the burning Learjet wreckage last weekend by sliding down a wing on the right side of the plane, it has been revealed.

According to police officer Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department, the pair told him they were on fire as they jumped from the doomed jet and that they had to tackle one another to extinguish the flames that left them both with second and third-degree burns.

Shumpert, who was the second person to arrive at the scene of the crash, said that Barker and Goldstein said they “slid down the wing on the right side of the plane. They said they were on fire, and that they tackled each other and put each other out."

Shumpert tells people.com that the pair were pacing on the side of the road and were in shock, particularly Barker.

He also said they were both wearing shorts, and that Barker was wearing a hat.

Barker and Goldstein were taken to Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta, GA and were treated for their burns. The pair did not suffer from any other injuries and doctors expect them to make a full recovery.

The four others travelling on the plane perished in the accident. They were pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31 and co-pilot James Bland, 52, Barker’s assistant Chris Baker, 29 and security guard Charles Still, 25.

I also thought it was odd that the Celebs where the only ones that survived, why couldnt the assistant and the security guard jump off the plane too? Well They probably have greater things to acomplish before they die. I hope both of them get better ASAP.

I think it's a bad thing to attempt. I'm quite sure Travis is the type of person who'll knock you out once he opens his eyes...unless you're super hot but that only means his ex-wife will.
