I was front row, center. Like literally that's why I didn't recognize the drummer - I couldn't see through Brody. All these dicks behind me seemed to think if they kept pushing hard enough I would just disappear and they would be in the front instead. It was like no, sorry, I'm solid :[

Mini Mansions were good, which is a shame because Shuman seemed to be fronting them and he was such a dick to me at the Jubilee show I went to.
[/quote:2i84s8om]

Okay, see, I was JUST going to ask if that was Shuman because he looked cleaner/thinner than I've seen him before. My boyfriend remarked about how attractive he was (w/e he has horrible taste). Anyway, yeah, I can see how maybe he might be a dick simply because he seemed really irritated the entire time while the strange-looking dude seemed totally out of it and the other guy seemed like he thought he was in Ben Folds Five or something.

Yeah, I was off to the right by the amps and there were some pretty pretentious people that were around the center and towards the right. Specifically, the OTHER gay male couple I noticed (hiss) whose party seemed to grow by the minute with people shoving their way through with their drinks. Ahhhh... Push Pit shows are so fun. I remember back when I saw AFI after Sing the Sorrow came out and it was the same thing. Post-punk band draws post-punk crowd of rude assholes who think nothing of being completely bitchy to each other.

When the real mosh pit did start up, though, I was surprised how nice and friendly people were. No dickheads throwing small girls around or guys trying to break heads open like cantelopes. What a strange, mixed crowd. But ya, hella gay people in SF showed up for Brody love. Hahah.

Yeah I heard her mention that. whaat wass sshe oonn???
[/quote:3mt3c0go]

Honestly, I think it was because Tony was the only one in the crowd who was psyched for them, haha. I dunno, they were interesting or w/e, but there's only so many times you can see bands like this who know 3 chords, have a super talented drummer, and a singer who basically just yells out beatnik lyrics.

She was swigging from her beer bottle, but I think she was just kind of intimidated that people in the front were literally just sitting there staring at her deadpan. There was some tall blonde kid I saw who seriously had no facial expressions at all when they played and he was dead center, lol. I mean, I'd try to go for comic relief by that point, too.

must've been me and my man. I didnt see any other gay couples, though. there was a queen infront of me, to my right-ish. Aloot of lesbians. But Brody's band/s have always had a pretty hearty G&L fanbase.

No, they just had a Le Tigre vibe. I was joking with Claire Tawnee and Mike that it was the second cumming of Le Tigre. Those silly Hunx.

But did anyone else go to the merch booth? How fucking cute was Maddy? God, I wanted to squeeze her. I got a little shy when she said she knew who I was lol... but yeah, she was such a doll. So funny after the show too. Anyone else talk with her and have a laugh?

How funny! The guy I came with was gay, too. I give Brody half the credit and half goes to the fact that it's just San Fran. Like half of ANY crowd is gonna be a bunch of raging homos (I'm allowed to say it. I have a girlfriend.)

OH GOD the pretentious crowd. I got in line like two and a half hours early and as the line started to fill up I noticed that they were all the same dumb bitches with their four-foot-tall, angled hair and septum piercings. It was like... fuck, when did Brody become scene queen of the month? I guess they were "hardcore" or something, idek with the kids these days.

But yes. Shuman and his perpetual "I sucked on a lemon and smelled something really bad, but I'm still better than you" face. Someone should give him an award from being able to convey all that in a glare >.> But yes, he did look rather well put together (and no more roll, lulz!) and I'm a little sad I didn't stop to get one of their CDs on the way out.

I didn't even SEE there was a merch table until I was too drunk to care, but I'm picking up one of MM's albums cuz I thought they were pretty good. That and when I see Spinnerette t's for $25, I am reminded why I don't like merch tables and just walked right by.

And yes, lol, I am glad someone else noticed how scenesters always rock the septum piercings. I had a septum piercing when I was 18, too, but I was always nice at shows (I think). Seriously, Brody should just do a small acoustic set for the scenesters alone so they can unbind their panties and relax a bit during the main show.

From what I've ever seen of him when he was with QOTSA, he's always like that. However, he seems to have cleaned up a lot since I saw QOTSA live and maybe sobriety isn't as fun as being in an indie band, hahahaha.

It happened at a Jubilee show like... last November. I made the whole band these decoupaged cards (if you saw me at the Spinnerette show, same deal. Crazy short chick with pretty cards). First off, when I asked Jeff and Troy where he was, they immediately started mocking him which I figured wasn't a particularly good sign. When I finally find him and give him it to him it goes a little like this:

Me: I made these for everyone. -hands Shoes his card-
Shoes: -stares-
Me: Good show!
Shoes: Thanks. -stares for a minute, turns around and starts talking to someone else-

It was just like... shit, I'm not asking for an hour of your time, dude. But could I at least get a "Hey, thanks for the thought?" At the time, everyone else in Jubilee was super nice and shook my hand, gave me a hug, or talked to me for a couple minutes. At the Spinnerette show, Tony found the time to say thank you and give me a hug. Kindness doesn't kill.

The fact that he looked like he had a metal pole up his ass at the show sort of lead me to believe his crankiness was chronic, but maybe I just keep catching him on bad days.

I went to the show took a few pics maybe I will post them later.
but the show was the second time seeing them live and I liked them a lot they sounded great live and they even have that angst feel sound to some of there tracks. They proper rocked.
I was on the balcony and I got second hand smoke from the boys smoking weed on the dance floor the weed smoke just came up to my level where I was sitting. and there was aload of queers but thats San Fran for you.
didnt meet Brody saw her sister! It was retarded how they tryed to beat someone up at the end for going on stage to pick up a setlist.
but all in all good fun good show I like Spinnerette alot more after seeing them on this show

Hahah.

well apparently im the pretentious bitch with the drink. i was one of the first people in the venue hanging out up close, super stoked because ive been waiting years to see brody again.. and cuz i want to go get a drink im being bitchy? silly. yeaaa, push pits are so fun. i met some super nice people too, and brody's sister was super sweet.

such a great show. i had an amazing time. it felt a bit nostalgic, like it was 7 or so years ago all those times seeing distillers in sf. ahh twas great. the tables up front acting as a barrier kinda sucked, ive got some intense bruises on my thighs.. anyone else?.. good times. one day eventually ill get pics/setlist posted. can't wait til next time.

Had such a blast. Met Brody's sis Maddy which was super exciting. It was her first (fantastic) night working the merch table. She was sooo cute. <3 Didn't see Brody, she was AWOL both before and after the gig. Talked with Tony, he was cute. Said the first thing they thought about was how I'd be pissed the Orangevale show got cancelled. LOL

Ppl that I was with took photos. Once we get things sorted over here, I will share. Anyone get any video or anything? The show was soo fucking amazing. Best gig I've seen Spinnerette do to date.

Sorry, but any time someone forms a hovel with their friends up at the front and then expects to have their spots saved for them I get irked. Of course, if I were in the same position, I'd shove my way back up there, too. ;)
