THE SMITHS!!!!!
any smiths song will do... but i imagine "bigmouth strikes again" would work well...or "ask"
RADIOHEAD
how about "House of Cards"?

SHE KEEPS BEES - "Gimmie" (http://www.myspace.com/shekeepsbees)

THE GUN CLUB - "My Dreams" or "jack on fire" or "For the Love of Ivy"

PJ HARVEY-"Beautiful Feeling", "Send his love to me"

JULIAN PLENTI-"Games for days"

JOY DIVISION- "Isolation"

THE CURE- "inbetween days"

.....
i could go on forever... :)

'House of the Rising Sun'
A Beatles song: 'No Reply' or 'Girl' :D

Or a tune from a 60s girl group would be cool!
'Remember walking in the sand' by the Shangri-Las
'Be My Baby' by the Ronettes

..yeeeah I'm really into older music right now haha

The Cure would be rad!
The Smashing Pumpkins, Cyndi Lauper and New Order too...

Depeche Mode - Something to Do or Stories Of Old or World In My Eyes or another song. Anything would be nice! hahaha
The Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven
Roky Erickson - Bloody Hammer
Joan Jett - I Hate Myself for Loving You

What the fuck I had to look up "triple j" and "like a version" because I guess I'm the only person here who isn't for Australia or something.
Now that I know what the fuck I'm talking about...

Don't Speak by No Doubt would be motherfuckingly awesome... I would seriously fight somebody for this.

Something from the Cars would be nice, like Moving in Stereo maybe...
Lovefool by the Cardigans? (lol)
Take a Chance on me by ABBA
Spanish Bombs or Train in Vain by The Clash? There are probably better songs than that but those are two I like a lot.

Oh yeah I forgot to explain what Triple J is to everyone like me, who doesn't fucking listen to Australian radio. Unlike SOME people I guess I'm just such a considerate, helpful motherfucker huh...

Apparently Triple J is an Australian Radio station focusing on people between the ages of 18 and 30. Like a Version is a cover album they make using various artists and shit. Or something like that.

But don't take my word for it, it's not like I know what the fuck I'm talking about.

The original post did say they were deciding on a cover. But yeah, if you don't know what Like a Version is guess you wouldn't have got it straight away.

Can't wait to see what they do. Amanda Palmer's prob gonna be doing one sometime soon too.

Wasn't there a thread about this a while back? There were some good ideas in there. I don't really feel like looking for it or through it, and I'm sure they don't either, but it's there, anyway.

Yeah somewhere there was one.

I heard a cover a while ago of The Kinks All Day and All of the Night with female vocals, sounded awesome, but think Spinnerette covering it would be even better.

Right, it says cover, but doesn't give any specifics. For all I knew it could've been a all punk cover album or fuck me an all christian music cover album.

I got some weird ideas:

Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress-The Hollies...such a great rock n roll song. I would love to hear E of DM do a version of this too. But Im curious to see how Spineroo would do it.

Tainted Love-Soft Cell. I think it would be a rad cover some rock, punk and electro into one great song.

Shakin'-Eddie Money.

When the Lady Smiles or Radar Love- Golden Earring

Every Me Every You (Single Mix)-Placebo. Kind of reminds me of 'Bury My Heart' due to the guitars

Can't Get You Outta My Head-Kylie Minogue

I Wanna Be Adored-Stone Roses

Acquiesce-Oasis

Rock N' Roll Star-Oasis...I just want them to fuck rip shit up with some Oasis covers

Speaking of the Stone Roses I think Love Spreads would be pretty cool...

But Don't Speak is like my favorite ever. So fuck that.

Yes I think Bordy and Kyuss would go together very well. Also it would give Tony a chance to go a bit mad on the guitar!

Don't ask me what I' basing this on because I'm not sure myself but.....
I think I'd like to hear an acoustic version of Hot Chip "Over and Over" or possibly "15 Step" by Radiohead.
I think Brody's voice would sound phenomenal on either of those!

i like the hot chip idea.
maybe something totally different than spinnerette, so they can make their own version of it. I like their covers, but they're always pretty close to the original.
like the disko drunkards version of olivia newton john's "let's get physical"?

I stumbled on a list of "strangely sexy music videos" today, and one song made me think of this thread. I've never heard of whoever this is and I haven't listened to any of their (her?) songs other than this one, so don't make fun of me if you have and they (she?) suck(s)...

“Kiss with a Fist” - Florence and the Machine

its seconding, concuring, endorsing the idea....lol
radiohead is one of my fav bands so it would be sooo ace if they'd decide to do so. but i guess this is going to be a recent event and radiohead is awfully hard to cover...so don't think they have that much time

i'd love it if the band would post how they feel about the ideas xD

Ah I see. hahahaha
Yeah it would be great if they came back and checked these suggestions. And I don't think 15 Step would have to be too complicated. They could keep it simple as they like. I think some of the songs like Valium Knights and Baptized By Fire are actually stronger as stripped back acoustic songs. I could really see them making it their own in that way.

An article about the most recent LAV cover posted on March 19th said that Spinnerette's will be next. Couldn't find anything anywhere else but then found that it'll be aired tomorrow (26th Feb) sometime between 6 and 9am. "this morning Spinnerette strip down to acoustic mode to play one cover and one original for Like A Version."

Should be an online version up on the Triple J website anytime after tomorrow morning.
