so yeah, my teenager tends to answer questions with sarcastic questions.

for example....
is your room cleaned? *as i am standing in the other room*
does it look clean to you?

i mean really.... would it be so hard to just say no?

teens are sooooo hard to raise these days. its like the respect barrier is out the window no matter what you say. a big percentage of teens are unappreciative for what their parents do for them to ensure they have a place to live, food on the table and a clean positive environment. they expect more than they deserve and they mistreat the things that they have. it isn't just me, its with lots of teens out there. i just wish that teens were more appreciative towards the ones who care for them and love them more than life itself.

i guess we are just inconciderate assholes who are too wrapped up in our own silly lives. my advice, smack him (assuming your chld is a he) next time. we teens need more DICIPLINE. the world does not need another Bam Margera!

sometimes its hard for us to tell when we are being sarcastic or not. perhaps ask him to try to be more aware. maybe?

awsome, im sure it pissed him off but when he does it to you it doesnt make you too happy either. this sounds cheesy and shrinkish but you guys should probly sit and talk about it. when i have problems with my parents i have found that it seems to work better than fights or mixed messages....ect....

When I first realized that my parents were [i:6hc7kfkz]people[/i:6hc7kfkz] and not just my parents, I realized a lot. I used to be awful with my mother, but I realized what she goes threw. It's a lot. Now I respect her and help her with what she needs.
Now my 12 year old sister is being the brat. I try to tell her that you should respect her but she doesn't get it yet. dry.gif

Well if your someone like me, any teenager likes to have the last word, hate to be told what to do, hate being wrong && hate being annoyed && nagged by annoying parents.
But c'mon i must admit you gotta have atleast some respect for them they give you a roof over your head && food on the table.

But im still a little fucker ¬_¬

They just gotta lay off abit && give you some independence.

All is said.

Teenagers are terrible people. If there is any justice in this world, we will all be simultaneously struck by lightning.

i was out to dinner with a friend, when suddenly i hear (southern valley girl accent) "OH MY GAWWW, I LOVE YOUR HAIR: ITS PINK!!!!!!!!" i just sat there said thanks when i realized what she was wearing: shorts so short she had a camel toe, fishnets with high heels, a tight tank top and gaudy makeup. since when do parents let 13 yr old girls go out in public looking like hookers? she was a nice girl but she was 13 going on 25.

teenagers need to not be tools, thats the moral of the story.

i'm [i:2y6kdroq]much[/i:2y6kdroq] better with my parents now, but i still answer questions like i did 10 years ago... i have a really hard time with questions.
the whole zero tolerance policy was like a religion to me.

being an only child, i guess i was used to having all the attention focused on me, so when someone would ask me something i'd be thinking "come one, you need to know that, i'm the only person in the room".

so i would answer, but still, my tone of voice would be saying "you mooooooron, hooooow the fuuuuuuuuuck don't you knoooow that??!??!?!?!?!?"

yet still, when people ask me questions and they already know the answer, i go apeshit.

"did you dye your hair?"
"no, you're hallucinating on lsd, i don't even have hair".

"is this dog yours?"
"no, i'm strapped to it because it kidnapped me."

at least when you have kids and you're younger, i guess it's easier.
i mean, a 60-year-old father trying to deal with a 15-year-old must be hell.

I think people don't have 'Teenage Attitudes' I think they have their own attitudes. Actually, scatch think, I KNOW.

anywhoo..

I agree that MOST people are unapretiative. I don't think it's their fault. I think parents spoil. I don't bitch and moan when I have to do something. My house maybe is in a shithole, It may be small, I may have cheap stuff to eat, But I appretiate my mother and all the work she dose.

It all depends on the kid and the attitudes around them.

hmmm, come to think of it, two years from now, when my cousin turns 21 her mother will be around 54, and my aunt is the shit, with her gazillion beatles' records and original sticky fingers vynils, wearing chucks and 501s to work religiously. so you definitely have a point.

i have this friend, whose father might be going on 70 now... the reason this friend ( who's now 27 years old) is not the youngest of five is because after that many children, his parents adopted a boy, who's about 20 today.

maybe strenght of the paternal/maternal instinct is related?

Don't you just love it when teens have aspirations in life? even if it is to be a hooker?

I disagree. I have a friend who's 19 and her parents have and presumably always will be highly strict. Her father is 87 (He was born on the same day as the pope that just died and for some strange reason I know that date =x) and her mother is 60 something or other.

this year i've gotten into a lot of fights with my parents. At one point
it got so bad my dad grabbed me and if he had held onto me for
another second i would've broke his nose. He let go of me and i
ran off towards the door, and i heard my mum yell "GET OUT!"
so i ran out of the house, in my socks with no credit on my phone
, it was pitch black so i had no idea where i was walking.
(getting kicked out of your house when you live on a farm
that's miles away from everything is a very difficult situation)
after a while my parents came out to where i was and tried
to make me come home even though they were the ones
that made me leave. i managed to call my friend and he
picked me up. we went to his house and smoked a joint and
his mum said i should call my parents and tell them that she'll
drop me off back home in the morning for school. Which i took
as a hint that she didn't want me to stay there.

But now we never get into fights, it's like something changed
I think it's just cos i do less stupid shit like run away from home,
or stay out all night even if i'm not aloud too. Cos shit like that is
just silly to me now, especially since soon i will be earning my own
income and will be 18 so will be able to do whatever i please anyway.

Now i see my 15 year old sister doing the same stupid stuff i did
when i was 15, and i just think "fuck, i can't believe i acted like
such a spoilt little shit"

When you're a teenager, nothing matters except getting what you want. I was a wretched little shit. Then you grow up a bit, become more independent, your parents start to loosen their fierce grip on you and you realise that mostly, they had your best interests at heart and you feel incredibly ashamed of yourself for years.

i think it depends on your upbringing as a child as to how you act when youre a teen
eg
my rents were strict as hell with me when i was a little un, and they broke up when i was ten because my mum had an affair which ended. my dad told me he didnt love me and did one cleared off and married some witch (which i didnt know about till last year) and my mum behaved like a complete jezebel, going out drinking pretty muich every night and sleeping with whoever and left me on my own pretty much from when i was 10 till the age of 17, and when i was 18 she therew me out because shes an alcie and i told her basicly that she needed to get a grip and snap out of it,so instead of listening to me, she just kicked me out.
so all thorugh my teenage years i cold do pretty much anything i pleased, as my mother was too wrapped up in her own life to care where i was or what i was upto. so i could have gone right off the rails.
i mean fair enough, i did a bit of drinking and a rare few drugs, but i have got 2 jobs (fairly well paid) and live alone in a decent flat, and me and my fella are moving in together in a week or so.

so in conclusion
it was the otherway round- my mum went out and behaved like a teenager and treated me like shit and i turned out ok. it just depends on the maturity of the teenager

Parents are too into be "hip", so it's no wonder there are so many out of control teens.

When I was a kid my parents were pretty strict with me. When they had their second kid she was a girl so they went easy on her. No they're on their third and they spoil the shit out of him. It's pretty fucking stupid. When I was a kid I got my ass kicked for the slightest thing. And talking back was a fucking death wish. Now they let their son cuss them out. If I tell him to shut up and not talk like that he bitches about it and they get onto me.

I just want one kid and I want a daughter, I wouldn't have the patience, and honestly, the interest to raise a son.

GET OUTTA MA GRILL MUM I'M ON AIM CHATTIN TO MAI GIRLFRIENDZZZ

my parents were... so not strict with me. i look back and a lot of my friends never had the same freedoms. i would travel alone on the train at age 12.. do things alone etc etc. They also worked a lot and weren't home (because they travel a lot) and when my sister moved out it was just me at 14 home alone. But i'm not a dumb fuck, nor am i the sort of child to rebel in the way that my parents had to treat me like a child. I have a really short fuse and lose my temper something chronic though and they just laugh so it's all good.
