i guess i never answered this question...

i first heard the distillers six years ago. i was riding in a friend's car and we were listening to a mix tape that someone made her. "gypsy rose lee" was on it. it's still my favorite song.

in 2002 or 2003 my friend told me about them but at that time i was broke and had a dialup internet connection so i couldnt get their music. not to long afterwards, i went to see the band Leftover Crack, who just happened to be opening for the one and only Distillers. well not one and only, since they changed members a ton of times haha.

after that i was obsessedddddd, finding out brodys real name and then i started listening to the bands Andy used to drum for, and it was just history from there.

i was in a record shop, and on the stereo their self-titled album was playing.

the songs were blackheart, gypsy rose lee and the blackest years i believe.

tony hawks underground 2...lol, i find it funny for some reason.

none of my friends have ever heard of them--my friends don't like cool stuff, so i had to find the distillers through a video game! before that there wasn't any female leads/groups i liked. from there--i expanded my musical horizons. :D

My friend nick wanted our grunge band to do a cover of "Coral Fang" and made us listen to the album, this was right after it came out, love at first sound... And we also did "Go with the Flow" by Queens... A lot of simularities in both songs... I wonder... No not possible...

Before I met my husband, he went to the Rancid/AFI/Distillers show at Clutch Cargo. They were introduced as "Tim's wife's band. I forget their name." He thought Casper was hot, but that's irrelevant. Anyway, I met him not too long afterward and he gave me a t-shirt from the show. I think wearing a band t-shirt of a band you've never heard is lame, so he let me borrow the cd. I was hooked from then on.

Caught Drain the Blood video in 2004 on Subterranean one night and was blown away. Next day I go to the record store looking for Coral Fang but they only had the one with the animals on the cover so I bought SSDH and special ordered Coral Fang with the explicit cover. I listened to SSDH everyday untill Coral arrived. Afterward I went back and bought the first record. Now I check wikipedia and this site almost everyday for new info on Spinerette.

I remember sitting down a few years back with some friends talking about female vocalists...Wendy O came up in our discussion and someone mentioned that she didn't have shit on Brody. I had never heard of her before and so I refused to believe that there was really hope of another amazing front-woman in punk/alternative (whatever the fuck you wanna call it) music. I made him put on The Distillers' first album and to my shocking disbelief...he was right. I was instantly hooked, intrigued by her voice and the entire bands' sound. Been a fan ever since..

That is the same way I found out about The Distillers!
Then I bought Sing, Sing Death House and Coral Fang.
I instantly loved the raw vocals of Brody and awesome lyrics.

Well, one morning, I looked out a window in my house and there was a headless squirrel on the roof. I bet it was Jesus too... or a raccoon.

Well no one can get out there so I've seen the process of decomposition. Still a few bones left out there after a year or two.

The moral of the story is Jesus does like you better than me. :/

They were at Warped Tour 2003 and I walked by this small stage and see these tough ass girls playing instruments, swearing, and spitting. I loved it. Then I got their self-titled and fell in love.
